Synopsis: James Bond races to a final showdown with his deadliest foe.
"Benson captures the spirit and pluck of Fleming's 007."
-San Francisco Examiner
In Raymond Benson's chilling new James Bond novel, 007 comes face-to-face with the most cunning criminal mastermind he has ever fought-the blind genius behind the brutal organization called The Union.
At a movie studio in Nice, a police raid goes horribly wrong-killing innocent men, women, and even children. In an English prison, a dead man discloses an intriguing secret about The Union. The trail leads James Bond to Paris, where he meets the tantalizing French movie star Tylyn Mignonne and embarks on a voyage of sensual discovery and mortal danger.
Bond's journey takes him to a thrilling underwater brush with death, a chase through the Corsican wilderness, a thrilling climax at the Cannes Film Festival-and a final confrontation with a twisted criminal genius.
Review: Raymond Benson continues his string of bracing, true-to-tradition James Bond adventures with Never Dream of Dying. As in his last two outings (High Time to Kill and Doubleshot), Bond is up against the Union, a supersecret international cartel of arms dealers and assassins headed by a satisfyingly diabolical mastermind. All the ingredients are there: solo forays into enemy territory, exotic European locales, brushes with death, high-tech gadgetry, a gorgeous femme fatale, and a hair-raising conclusion featuring plenty of explosions and a deadly race against the clock. Benson, a scholar of the original Ian Fleming series who has written four other original Bond thrillers as well as the novelizations of several Bond movies, gets the tone just right. Bond fans won't be disappointed. --Nicholas H. Allison

Book Description Hodder & Stoughton, 2001. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. This is a signed, first edition, first impression of the sixth James Bond novel or ‘novelisation’ to be penned by Raymond Benson. It is a fine copy in a fine dust wrapper. There are no marks or inscriptions of any kind save for the author’s bold signature, in black felt pen, on the title page. The text block is square and tight with minimal age tanning (despite the dreadfully poor quality of paper used). The black boards are pristine as is the gilt lettering to the spine. The unclipped dust wrapper is complete with no tears or marks. The colours are vibrant. The original price of £17.99 remains. The dust wrapper is now protected by a removable, acid free acetate sleeve. The book is part of a recently acquired collection of all Bond and associated titles. We believe that this book was read once, carefully, and then shelved. After the “retirement” of John Gardner in 1996, Mr Benson was invited to become the author of future bond novels largely as a result of his iconic work ‘The James Bond Bedside Companion’ which won many awards and prizes. Despite ignoring plot and character continuity (that Gardner largely adhered to), his writing skills and his encyclopaedic knowledge of Ian Fleming’s books and the character of 007 gained his works respect and popularity. He was to write a further two Bond novels and one more ‘novelization’ before retiring in 2003. Although by this stage Mr Benson’s works were receiving a chunky first print run, few signed copies found their way on to the market since his visits to the UK to promote his publications were few. In its quite lovely condition, the book will be a valuable addition to any library or collection that includes James Bond novels. The images you see are high resolution scans of the actual book you will receive. It will be dispatched via secure courier in protective packaging. We do not charge postage to buyers within the UK. Those from outside the UK are asked to contact us before purchasing. We offer a 7 day no quibble full refund if the item is not as described and shown. We stock all James Bond titles.
