7.25" x 4.5". 205pp. Green cloth with gilt spine lettering, in dust wrapper. Lightly musty from storage, else VG+ condition. The jacket is a bit worn and rubbed. This copy signed and inscribed by Holbrook on the first leaf: "One of the author's copies For Jim and Thre, Affectionately, Hols. Publication: May 9 1955." James Stevens, obviously a close friend of Holbrook's, is best known as the man who popularized the Paul Bunyan legends. The book is a study of the robber baron known as the "Empire Builder." He was instrumental in the construction and development of the Great Northern and Northern Pacific railroads. Bookseller Inventory # 21663
