Front covers have stylized portrait in red. Yellow and black frontispieces and black and white illustrations by Toyen. Translated by Joseph Kopal. Binding tight. Hinges NOT cracked. Corners are rounded and bent due to the thinness of the boards. Covers have light surface and edge wear. Some dents on cover edges. Imprinted bookplate on front endpaper of each volume. Inscription on verso of frontispiece of volume 1 in ink, dated 1948. Pages edges have a few stains. Pages very lightly and uniformly tanned but still supple. Pages clean and unmarked. 385 + 474 + 447 + 366 pages. No dust jackets.
