Japan, Bunkyu 3 (1863) Large two-volume illustrated atlas and encyclopedia set including maps of the world, Japan, Okinawa, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Osaka and the trading port of Yokohama. The spectacular colored plates depict Mt. Fuji, an unusual view looking down into the crater of Mt. Fuji, Edo Nihonbashi (the beginning of the Tokaido Road), panoramic scenery and cultural gatherings, and an illustration of a fireworks display in Edo. Sections of the book relate to history, mathematics, weapons and samurai, farming, and many other subjects.
