8.25" x 5.5". 226pp. Green decorated cloth with gilt lettering. With just a touch or edge rubbing, neat gift inscription, else fine condition. Much nicer than usually seen. The author, whose real name was Winnifred Eaton, was of Chinese - British ancestry. She and her sister Edith Eaton were among the first writers of Asian descent to be published in America. (Possibly THE first two.) This novel is printed on wide-margined paper decorated with Japanese pale 'shadow' illustrations that often unobtrusively enter into the text block.
