Title: Jazz Solos Poems and Images
Publisher: Chicago: Joseph Regenstein Library and University of Chicago Press, 1991
Publication Date: 1991
unpaginated [64 p.], quarto (8 12/' x 11"), glossy cardstock cover. This publication is a tribute to Robert Rosenthal, former curator of rare books at the University of Chicago. In a letter dated December, 1990, Martin Runkle, director of the university library, explains that Rosenthal had organized an exhibition entitled "Jazz-The Chicago Scene" (1989), "as a tribute to a colorful era in Chicago's past and to the art of his longtime friend, jazz observer Stephen Longstreet." Rosenthal died "an untimely death" shortly thereafter. Longstreet subsequently donated additional materials to the library, including a portfolio of poems and images entitled "Jazz Solos" dedicated to Rosenthal. He asked that the university make the portfolio available to Rosenthal's friends and colleagues, and this is one of the 1,000 copies published. Fine, letter enclosed. Bookseller Inventory # 61610KH1
