Oval portrait of Jean-Fran�ois Senault (1599-1672), a French Augustinian philosopher. Etching and engraving on hand laid paper, sheet size 259 x 414 mm., platemark 197 x 256 mm., engraved by Jacques Lubin (?-1703), as an illustration for Charles Perrault's 'Les Hommes illustres qui ont paru en France pendant ce si�cle' (Paris: 1696-1700). In excellent condition, some creasing in the lower margin, but nowhere near the image.
