First 8vo, stiff stapled wrappers with pictorial overlay. [28] pp, 17 tipped-in color illustrations + 4 portraits and photographs, chronology. Text in Dutch. Exhibition October 12 - November 27, 1961. Pougny was born near St. Petersburg, Russia of Italian lineage. His father and grandfather were musicians. He studied art briefly in Russia but in 1910 enrolled in the Académie Jullian before returning to Russia in 1912. He exhibited with Malevich, Tatlin and Larionoff during 1912-13. He briefly returned to Paris prior to the outbreak of the First World War but spent the war years in St. Petersburg (later Leningrad), departing in 1919. After spending three years in Berlin he settled permanently in Paris in 1923. Very good. Bookseller Inventory #
