Oblong Octavo. 227pp. (+ 23pp). Tan wrappers with gold lettering on cover. Introductory statements by Yosef "J." Goldschmidt, Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek, Mayor of Jerusalem and Avraham Yekel, Director of the International Cultural Center for Youth. The beautifully-produced work is an multifaceted educational examination and presentation of Jerusalem, from historical, social, cultural, religious, geographic, literary and artistic perspectives aimed at the international Jewish community and Jewish youth. Profusely illustrated throughout in sepia-toned lithographs and offset prints, featuring maps, statistical charts, photographic reproductions, paintings and drawings. The city's history from biblical times through the modern era is discussed, as is the urban planning, water supply and local geography. Light is shed on the day to day lives in the city, through discussions of religious significance and customs, ethnic communities, language and domestic issues. Jerusalem's portrayal in legends, religious texts and fiction is also a point of focus. Examples of art created in, and inspired by the city is shown in detail. Fostering engagement with and celebration of the city is promoted and encouraged in the text. Also included, and held in a pocket at the interior back cover, is an additional 23 page stapled pamphlet titled "Jerusalem - A Series of Slides". The pamphlet discusses various eras, and moments in the history of Jerusalem accompanied by more photos, and gives detailed suggestions to the reader on how to organize and prepare an visual exhibition of photos of Jerusalem. The publication originally accompanied a Jerusalem multimedia "Educational Kit" that included drawings, posters, slides, games,and a cassette among other items. Text in English with occasional Hebrew. Wrappers with some light creasing and staining to front, back cover and spine. Slight bumping to corners of wrappers. Interior with vertical crease near spine at front free endpaper. Small creases to the top corners of a few pages. Bottom of pocket holding the pamphlet at interior back cover is loose. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, checks, money orders and bank transfers. Prepayment is required, however we extend billing to libraries and members of the trade. Books may be returned within 10 days if not as described.


Shipping Terms:

Shipping fees are based on your location and desired time frame, and they vary according to the weight and size of your order. We calculate United States Postal Service fees online and then round the amount up to an even figure by one or two dollars to cover delivery confirmation and to help with the cost of packing materials. We also ship via Federal Express (Fed Ex) and USPS Express. We are happy to accommodate special shipping needs by request.

Within the United States:
USPS Media mail is typically $5 for a book of average weight. Priority mail varies, depending on whether USPS flat-rates are applicable and advantageous for the dimension, weight and distance.

International:
International First Class typically starts at $20. International Priority is typically $35 or less if under four pounds weight, and starts at $40 if over four pounds. International Express is a faster and more expensive option.

All Fed Ex shipping options are available, using your account or ours.
