Brochure issued for the exceedingly popular => exhibition-in-the-round of a grand panoramic painting entitled "Jerusalem on the day of the crucifixion," painted by Karl H. Frosch with several assistants. Modelled after the "Panorama der kreuzigung Christi" in Munich, it was a famous and striking American entrant in the array of patriotic and religious => cycloramas that so entranced its era. The first part of this pamphlet examines or "narrates" the painting itself, in great detail; the second part => describes its production. The panorama was exhibited "in the rotunda, S.E. Cor. Wabash Avenue and Panorama Place" before, during, and after the => Chicago Columbian Exposition. The front wrapper proclaims it "Chicago's great illustration. The grandest permanent exhibition of the nineteenth century." => NUC and WorldCat locate only the copy at the Newberry. 8vo. 15 pp. In original peach wrappers. Very good. Bookseller Inventory #
