About this Item

A collection of three items which Includes two sided broadside from his appearance at the Shenandoah Theatre (city unnamed), a copy of the May 19, 1948 Lawton (Oklahoma) Constitution issue that broke news with the front page headline: JESSE JAMES IS ALIVE! IN LAWTON with several articles on how the information from Jesse James will lead Joe Hunter to the vast treasure hidden back in 1880. As James says: "We buried it because we din't have any way to transport so much gold bullion and coins.we used a code that wasn't easy to break." Hunter (the article reports) now has the maps in his poessesion (a picture on the page of the two is at bottome of page). The magazine here included is "The Truth About Jesse James" which produces copies of affidavits, letters from John Williams Pierce who had known Jesse James before his alledged death and saw him several times in the 1880's, affidavit of Martillius Edwin Baldwin whose meeting with the man known as J. Frank Dalton knew information that had been kept family in his family (Baldwin's father was a Baptist minister who knew Jesse James). This collection shows how powerful collaborating evidence is in conspiracy theories since on the face of it, it would be overwhelming that the 1882 killing by Bob Ford was not of Jesse James but of Charley Bigelow. Of course, the exhumation of Jesse James body in 1995 would appear based on DNA science of the time to show with 97% certainty that he had actually died in 1882 but still as in the case of all theories of cover-ups this allows the legend that he died. A very unique collection relating to the Jesse James legend which range from the 10 cent pulps in the 1880's to the remarkable collection of memorabilia at the multi-million dollar auction held in Dallas in 2013.
