About this title

A highly-readable Hasidic program of spiritual growth, focusing on theory and practical exercises that employ visualization, contemplation and emotion. A twentieth century spiritual classic. "A significant contribution to the English-speaking Torah world that thirsts for authentic renditions of Hasidic spiritual guidance." Rav Dr. Zvi Leshem, rabbi emeritus of Shirat Shlomo "A masterful and sensitive translation that demonstrates a profound understanding of the author's highly original spiritual agenda coupled with an exquisite rendering of complex concepts into a language which is clear, poetic, and inspiring." Rabbi Dr. Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, Executive Vice President Emeritus of the Orthodox Union "Yaacov David Shulman is a premier translator of classic works of Jewish spirituality and mysticism that speak to a searching generation." David Sears, head of Breslov Center of Brooklyn, author of The Vision of Eden: Animal Welfare and Vegetarianism in Jewish Law and Mysticism

About the Author:

Rabbi Shapira was one of the great Jewish spiritual masters of the twentieth century, living in pre-World War II Warsaw, Poland. Seeking to revitalize the spiritual Hasidic movement, Rabbi Shapira wrote a number of books focusing on theory and practical exercises based on visualization, contemplation and emotion. Tragically, Rabbi Shapira was shot to death by the Nazis in 1943.
