The red brown cloth has a different front cover stamping, with the word "Illustrated" as the third to the last line and left justified. Adams One-Fifty 41. Guns 528: "Very rare." "An exceedingly rare book giving previously untold information about the Missouri outlaws. In his old age Jim Cummins' memory was bad. I corresponded with him while he was an inmate of the Old Soldiers' Home at Higginsville, Missouri. On September 29, 1926, he wrote me that he did not remember ever having written such a book.Cummins had been written about so exaggerately in wild West fiction, and in real life he was such a meek-looking man, that when he tried to give himself up after the James gang was disbanded no one would believe he was Cummins. He was never brought to trial. Dykes, Rare Western Outlaw Books. Graff 948. Howes C951: "aa." Rader 996. Bookseller Inventory # 211
