This is an anthology of 35 poems written in Malay by National Laureate Usman Awang and translated to English by Adibah Amin and Haslina Usman and edited by Dr. Zawiah Yahya. It is a compilation of patriotic poems from his earlier works. Some were only published in local newspapers and magazines before, during and after the independence of Malaysia.

His was the voice that visualised the hopes and dreams of a nation colonised.

Usman Awang had various pen names, among them were Tongkat Warrant, Adi Jaya, Atma Jiwa and Zaini.
