Volumes 1 and 3 contain the family records of John Stites (born to William Stites on May 5, 1705) and his wife Margaret (born Nov. 9, 1715). One page lists John Stites seven siblings with their dates of birth, another page lists his nine children with the dates of their births, and another page lists the eleven children, with the dates of their births, of his daughter Sarah and her husband, the Rev. John Gano (born July 23, 1727). John Stites has inscribed the frontpaper : "John Stites His Book December ye 1th(?) 1770", with the same inscription at the bottom of the frontispiece portrait of the book's author, John Gill. John Stites seven siblings, born betwen 1707 and 1725 are: Rebecca, Hezekiah, Richard, Sarah, William, Elijah, and Benjamin. John Stites nine children, born between 1728 and 1749 are: Mary, Hezekiah, Abigail, Sarah, Margaret, John, Abigail, Richard, and Chloe. The eleven children of Sarah Stites and The Rev. John Gano, who were married on Sept. 15, 1755 are: John Stites Gano, born in East New Jersey,(Dec. 13, 1756); Daniel Gano, borni n North Carolina, (Nov. 11, 1758); Margaret Gano, born in Philadelphia (Dec. 23, 1760), and was married to a Hubbell in 1779; Stephen Gano, born in New York, (Dec. 25, 1762) and died in Providence in 1828; Sarah Gano, born in New York, (Feb. 4, 1764) was married to Doctor Samuel Thane in 1783, and died in Flushing, Long Island in 1826; John Stites Gano (the second), born in New York (July 14, 1766), and died at Covington in 1822; Susanna Gano (August 15, 1768); Isaac Eaton Gano (May 4, 1772) and died in Kentucky; Richard Montgomery Gano (July 7, 1775) and died in Kentucky; Susanna Gano (the second) ws born in Connecticut (Nov. 8, 1777); and William Gano was born in Warwick, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 1781) and "Died at Hillsdale at Dr. Thane's". A few marriages are recorded: Margaret Gano to William Hubbell on Feb. 23, 1779; Stephen Gano to Cornelia Dawson(?) on Oct. 25, 1782; and Sarah Gano to Dr. Samuel Thane on March 20, 1783. The genealogical records are recorded in Voumes 1 and 3 with many duplications in both volumes. From a theological library, with their label on each spne, bookplate, and a red library stamp on each title page. Bound in period, full leather, with the spines in 6 compartments. Vol. 1 (1769) has some slight shakiness to the covers, with cracking to the hinges. Vol. 2 (1769) has some sight cracking to the hinges. Vol. 3 (1770) has cracking to the front hinge. Pagination: xiv, 548; 551-1,091 and a one page catalog; (iv), 514, 10 pages. Each volume measures about 8 inches by 10 inches (about 200mm by 250mm). Size: 4to - over 9" - 12" tall.
