About this Item

University of Georgia Press, GA. Part of the University of Georgia Monograph series. Nevins says of this fine item: "Especially worthwhile, for this study contains an interchange of correspondence between a Georgia soldier-planter and his socially prominent family." Cobb was the son of Howell Cobb, former Governor of Georgia and President Buchanan s Secretary of the Treasury, and later Confederate general. Cobb joined the Confederate Army in 1861 and was sent to Virginia in April 1861. After the Maryland Campaign of September 1862 he was given permission to leave the army and return to Georgia. Good copy of the first edition in soft cover. Although solidly bound there are staple holes in near the spine where the they must have helped hold the binding place. Some sun fading on the spine. 104 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 20452
