1944 First English edition published during the war, but printed on very good, still creamy paper. Clean with very well attached covers, but with light bumping to the edges. 250 clean, crisp, and tightly bound pages. There are no ownership inscriptions or bookplates. The clean dust jacket has 1/8 inch chipping to the spine ends, with a small chip off the bottom of the front panel. The front flap has the original 8s 6d. price. Bookseller Inventory # 13627
