About this Item
Octavo. Joseph Delteil; Essays in Tribute. (London) 1962: St. Albert's Press. Limited to 150 copies signed by Henry Miller and Joseph Deltei, an out of series, unopened, uncut and unbound state. Known for his correspondence with Henry Miller and F.J. Temple, this book of essays is in tribute to Delteil by Eugene Louis Julien, Jacques Madaule, Henry Miller, Henry de Monttherlant, Fr. Brocard Sewell and F.-J. Temple, Wilhelmina Van Ness in the Film Quarterly writes: Delteil published poetry in the early twenties and after a surprising success with two surreal prose novels in 1923, Sur / e Fleuve Amour and Choléra , he left a bank job in the Midi and emigrated to avant-garde Paris. Sur le Fleuve Amour chronicled the barbarous and amorous adventures of Ludmilla, a Delteil ideal of sensuality and apoliticism, and those of her two boyfriends, Russian Bolshevik, innocents hilariously adrift in revolution, Siberia, and Shanghai, two miscreants. The classic film Jeanne d Arc is also discussed in depth in Malcolm Cowley's translation of Delteil in English. Seller Inventory # 031446
