About this Item

Limited to 700 copies only, signed by Aline Bernstein. Hardcover in pale green cloth lettered and with devices in blue and black. Laid in is the scarce two page promotional pamphlet of biographical information about the author. A tight, generally fine example, hint of toning to the spine strip and narrow bit of wear to the foot of the spine. In the original dust jacket, very small chips at the front panel extremities and sunning to the spine strip. Autobiographical novel , ". a narrative of the relationship between a lovely, sensitive woman and a young writer.beginning with their meeting on board a ship and ending with the woman's thoughts as she lies ill after being cruelly abandoned.". Bernstein , though a married woman with two children at the time, began a passionate but tumultuous seven-year affair with Thomas Wolfe starting in 1925 when they met aboard the trans-Atlantic liner Olympia. Their voluminous correspondence was finally published in 1983 ("My Other Loneliness"). Bookseller Inventory # E15668
