First paragraph: "In the southeastern part of one of the most prosperous States of the Middle West lies a beautiful valley. Through it from north to south winds a narrow, deep stream, bordered on either side by majestic walnut, hickory, and sycamore trees. The valley itself is bounded on the east and on the west by long, low mounds extending almost its entire length.
