Adoniram Judson and his mission to Burmah published on the occasion of his visit to the United States, and undoubtedly published as a fund raiser for the mission. Includes a history of the mission, its triumphs and tragedies, poems by Mrs. Sigourney and others. One of the two plates shows Mrs. Judson's grave. Title-page printed in GOLD and red, and as such is noteworthy in the annals of U.S printing history. 12mo. Frontis., 294 pp., [8 (adv.)] ff., 2 plts. Publisher's brown cloth; covers stamped in blind with beautiful gilt picture on front cover of Rev. Judson preaching to the Burmese, and an ornate gilt on spine. Front joints torn at top 2.5". Edges and corners bumped and abraded. Ex-library with call number and label on spine, rubber stamps, pencilled notations and magnetic strip on page 142. Small ink stain on corner of back cover.
