About this Item

The noted Texas naturalist writes of the marshland that lies between Galveston and Padre Island along the Gulf coast once inhabited by a fierce band of Indians from which the title of the book is derived. The book is a stated first edition, tightly bound, no names or other markings, with a map of the area printed on the front and rear pastedown and endpapers that shows a bit of age tanning. The DJ is tired and shows a bit of wear on the spine ends and some age tanning but hardly any edgewear, having been protected by a mtylar sleeve. A nice copy of a classic book.
