Grey cloth with red letters and red decorations on the spine and with a seal in red on the front cover. Fore-edge untrimmed. Very minor wear to extremities, cloth very slightly soiled, red letters and decorations bright, illustrations in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Dedication reads as follows: "To the men of the occupation whose job is as difficult as the winning of a war." Written soon after Word War II during the occupation of Japan, this book gives the American in Japan an eye-witness account and explanation of all things Japanese--a very interesting period piece by a well-known author of several books on Japan, incuding the following: CHILDREN OF THE RISING SUN (1938), JAPAN AND THE SON OF HEAVEN, JAPAN'S ISLANDS OF MYSTERY (1944), JAPAN RIDES THE TIGER and many other travel books.
