DAVIOT, GORDON (TEY, JOSEPHINE) [Pseudos. Of Elizabeth Macintosh). KIF. NY: D. Appleton & Co., 1929. A Fine, unrubbed and probably unread, copy in a slightly chipped but otherwise only lightly used Original Dust Jacket. This is the Appleton-Century File copy, so stamped and hand-numbered on the front free endpaper. As nice a copy of her first book in first edition as one is likely to find. Elizabeth Mackintosh (1896-1952), using the nom de plume Josephine Tey, achieved remarkable greatness as one of the best known female mystery writers of Britain's Golden Era along with Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers, Ngaio Marsh, and Marjorie Allingham. This first novel, KIF, is the story of a WW1 veteran's descent into petty street crime and eventually turning up as the lead suspect in a murder. Bookseller Inventory # 001700
