Illustrated with 40 full-color drawings by Indian children plus very many black and white drawings of various symbols used in Indian art, e.g., clouds, falling rain, etc. Decorated title page. Some wear to extremities with one corner just barely worn through, cloth clean and bright, all illustrations present and in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Isis L. Harrington was educated in Missouri State Teacher¿s College and worked as a Senior Teacher, Sac and Fox Reservation, Stroud, OK. In 1917 she became a teacher in the Albuquerque Indian School (AIS) eventually becoming the English teacher. She became Principal in 1922 and during her tenure instituted many innovative programs at AIS, e.g., directing the work of the graduating class of 1924 to organize 13 library societies in the pueblos and reservations. She resigned from AIS in 1933 because she was not in sympathy with the new administrations, which favored day schools rather than boarding schools. KOMOKI OF THE CLIFFS is juvenile fiction about the Hopi Indians. Harrington was the author of at least two other books dealing with American Indians. Bookseller Inventory # 008177
