About the Author:

Author Ro'Bin White Morton is a native of New Orleans who survived hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005. She is an educator, founder of Academia Creative Arts Academy, and one who has served the community throughout her life. After hurricane Katrina she was urged to share this story through Amari's eyes. She has also written and directed several children's plays tilted "New Orleans Secondline City", "Between Me, You, and the Gate Post", "Anything Happens In Church", "The Grumpy Christmas" and "Santa Where Ya'at". She has written original songs for these plays and one children's book tilted "Prayer's From an African American Child". As a face painter and storyteller known as "Miss Melody" she delights in sharing these stories with others.
