About this Item

Profusely illustrated with b&w photographs along with line drawings of maps. Pages are numbered to 600 and then abruptly jump to 705 with a footnote stating that the pages containing pictures within the text were unnumbered and this jump accounts for that. Page 705 begins a chapter not in the table of contents titled 'The Old Illinois 8th Regiment" There are a few pencil markes on the tile page and the header of the preface. There are some notes inside the back cover and the former owners name and address in bold pencil inside the front cover. The owner was the Reverand D. B. Dade of Butler, Pa. Rev. Dade's wife, Lettie Hall Dade, prepared breakfast for John Wilkes Booth in the morning following the assassination of Lincoln. The front hinge is broken and the spine shows considerable wear. Bound in green cloth with front illustration in red, black and silver. Corners and extremities are worn. . Bookseller Inventory # 9061
