Newspaperman Kent Cooper (1880-1965), having conceived during the early 20th century of news delivery to newsrooms by telephone, was hired away from United Press by Associated Press in 1910, rising to executive director in 1943. He had conceived in 1926, and established in 1935, the AP Wirephoto system, and AP's world news service in 1938. These advances changed how and when news of World War II, for instance, reached the home fronts, with AP news writers and photographers around the world. Cooper's career at AP continued until his retirement. His influence was widespread. Enclosed are letters / notes from Cooper to Rowland Rand who began at AP with him in 1911, according to a carbon copy of a letter Rand wrote tahnking Cooper for sending him this book. There is also a formal card from AP, with dated copies of Cooper's death notice and obituary; 3 envelopes in all. Cooper's signature is written with a newsroom blue pencil. Store Description

Hi, Folks ... Mom said, 'I need to downsize'. Moving to assisted living, what she couldn't take included 8,000-plus books & records. A decade later, my upcountry barn is bursting. Books multiply as others recycle priorities. I now have 30,000 or more books (not yet all online) looking for good homes, and my learning curve has been a roller coaster. I celebrate word-crafters, thought-tumblers, laughter ... the arts of communication at every turn. I preserve, protect, and share. I am also Hedgehog Publishing, 'Words & Pictures by & for Folks with Prickly Backs, Soft Bellies, & Small Brains'.
