most probably FIRST AND ONLY EDITION AND PRINTING (not indicated); no dj; hard to find German children's book, translated from the Spanish original "El Pais de la Pizarra" by Juliane Piron; from a private collection; back cover has small white abraided spot, ca 12 x 3 mm, and some horizontal abraided lines, heal of spine slightly rubbed, else clean and new-looking, rated Near Fine; hard covers are green with white and black lettering, a small b&w photo of the author on the back cover and a front cover illustration -- black, white, and red -- by Kristine Rothfuss, one of her many uplifting drawings in the book; this hard to find book would interest collectors of German/Spanish children's literature; the author, born in 1926 in Barcelona, has been awarded many honors and is considered a "posguerra" spokesperson for her generation (see for example the description of her life in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana_Mar%C3%ADa_Matute); 16mo -- 6 5/8 inches high, 60 numbered pages. A number of the books are valuable and hard to find, as for example a 1/2-leather-bound first edition of Alfred Russell Wallace's The Malay Archipelago (2 vols.), recently sold for presentation to the Mayor of London on his visit to Malaysia, and a first edition of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, a novel of the 19th century pointing to a scary future, a continuing revelation to me. Triple G Books stands back of its books in every way.
