Frontis piece with a b/w facsimile photograph of author holding up a beautiful pot. Work is about a famous archaeological site, Kinishba. The Kinishba Ruins are an ancient pueblo in Arizona that included a combination of Mogollon (the name applied to one of the four major prehistoric archaeological culture areas of the American Southwest and Northern Mexico. The American Indian culture known as the Mogollon lived in the southwest from approximately AD 150 until sometime between AD 1300 and AD 1400) and Anasazi cultures, (Navajo term for the "Ancient Ones"). It was abandoned around 1400 CE and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1964. Books is lavishly illustrated with color and b/w facsimile photographs of potter, the excavation itself, various artifacts, charts, graphs and maps. Book contains 3 fold out maps, one which is located inside original pocket attached to rear boards. This was the personal copy of Bruce Bryan, the noted author and long time curator of the Southwest Museum of the American Indians in Pasadena, California as is indicated by bookplate on front board ad his signature on front endpaper.
