Tan cloth with paper title label on spine, plain cover; top edge stained blue, others untrimmed; 4to; 211pp; illustrated with frontispiece photo portrait of author plus other b/w photos and drawings; limited to 200 numbered (#53) copies; printed at The Marchbanks Press in New York. The posthumously printed history of the Knapp family from Bayshore on Long Island's southern coast. Knapp was a founding member of the South Side Sportsmen's Club, and the book contains numerous stories of shooting ducks, geese, quail and upland game on the island. Also, prairie chicken in Iowa and English snipe as well as, angling and horse racing. This copy is on good condition with moderate soiling to the covers; spine darkened, along with intact title label; internally quite nice and clean. This copy bears an inked presentation " Melville Stone / from the Family of the Author". Stone was a newspaper publisher and founder of the Chicago Daily News. An uncommon title.
