Title woodcut vignette of a young man in a cloak and tunic, with one hand extended. In this ballad with a happy ending, the Knight of Elle abducts his beloved Emmeline from her father's house after she sends word that he plans to marry her off to "carlish knight" Sir John from the north country. After Sir John pursues them and is killed by the Knight of Elle, Emmeline's father is moved to give his daughter to the Knight, thus healing the family feud begun by their two fathers. Scarce.
