Octavo. First printing. 113(1)pp., Translated by Ralph Anheim. First published in 1915, this was Hesse's most popular book before Demian. This edition however is the first edition published in English. The story about a man named Knulp who travels from town to town, no job, no income, just friends who readily feed and shelter him. Then, as he lay dying in a snow storm he has an interview with God about his life. A handsome copy bound in green cloth stamped in gilt, spine lettering gilt.
