Synopsis: The Korean War began in June 1950 and ended in July 1953. During that short period of time, more than 5.7 million American soldiers were sent to Korea; 34,000 Americans were killed in action and over 20,000 were killed in non-combat accidents. The Korean War started so abruptly that the United States had to quickly mobilize large numbers of enlisted men to be sent to the Korean theater of war. This mobilization and subsequent funneling of troops from civilian status to the front line in Korea in a matter of weeks became known as the Korean Pipeline. This novel follows three enlisted men from their initial recall to active duty, to their combat service in Korea, and to what finally happened to them. The war ground on for three years and finally ended in a virtual stalemate where it all started, at the 38th parallel in Korea in July 1953.
