About this Item

I am selling a VERY RARE and elusive hardcover FIRST edition of Stockley's one-time VERY POPULAR novel; New York: Doubleday, 1933. First American Edition, 1st printing. Original greenish cloth. This novel was published in the UK by Cassell. Set in South Africa and Paris, France. Excellent and enthralling novel, much praised at time of its publication. It is truly a VERY SCARCE book! Very sturdy and good, has original Dust Jacket too. Dust Jacket is from Grosset & Dunlap, but book is a first Doubleday edition. As-issued, and not very odd, considering G&D often bought up extra stock from first edition publishers and re-issued the books with G&D DJs. Condition not as important due to scarcity. The book has evidence of a real bookworm, which is quite quaint and cool if you ask me. The listing also comes with a FREE fake jacket, so no complaining. Only the book and its original DJ is for sale, the facsimile jacket is free. Bookseller Inventory # 127
