About this title

During the Cold War American tourism to the Soviet Union languished both because of a poor relationship between the United States and Russian governments and the fear of even a temporarily short stay under a Communist government. Yet, visitors, especially Americans. during this period were welcomed. It was a fun time when foreign visitors could feel safer than alone in their home city streets at night.

Kremlin Kapers relates some fascinating situations encountered behind the Iron Curtain in the Soviet Union during the Cold War.

About the Author:

In the 1960's John Fahey served as an American Liaison Officer to the Soviet Army in East Germany. In the 1970's and 1980's he led many Old Dominion University study tours to the Soviet Union, studied in a Moscow State Univeristy program, and conducted a site visit to Moscow for an American contractor. A Russian linguist, Professor Fahey enjoyed a special relationship with the Russian people.
