About this Item

Drugie wydanie. (Dla kobiet). One follows the other, so I am not certain if this is the second edition of an identical first ed., or if this is a second edition designed for women, whereas the first was for men and women. Full brown leather binding with cross design impressed on front cover. (16), 786, (6 of index) pages. all edges gilt. some engravings. 17,2 x 11,4 cm. Very Good minus with some spine slant, moderate foxing (browning spots) in the pages; engraved pictorial title page heavily rubbed; still a solid copy of a scarce book. OCLC and KVK show only one copy of this edition, and only one copy of the 1842 first edition; both are in the Library of the University of Poznan. The University catalogs the author as Marcin Dunin Sulgustowski, although I do not see his name on the title page, preface, etc. This book seems to have been used over many generations, with devotional cards, an old note (from 1848?) inserted. Please do not confuse this volume with the shorter edition, written for youth, offered now online. Bookseller Inventory # INV4715
