He is most famous for his collages, In this memoir of her friendship and collaboration with Kurt Switters, Kate Steinitz provides a recreation of the artist's life and work. Schwitters was a prominent proponent of avant-garde art that transcended Dada to produce a collage form he called "Merz" that integrated poetry, prose, typography, the plastic arts and architecture.
