This STATED FIRST EDITION is in NEAR FINE condition. Book's copyright page states "First Edition" near top of the page. Book is in Near Fine condition with black cloth binding with gilt ladder illustration framed in 2.5" x 2.75" box and bold gilt lettering to spine. Book's spine tips and corners are very gently bumped with binding and insides tight, bright, clean and unmarked. NO previous owner's or library markings and NO foxing. Black and white illustrations from engravings by IAN HUGO. DW is covered by mylar with price point of $2.75 still intact at bottom right of front flap. DW is in VERY GOOD+ condition with brown and orange illustration of fire's flames with 3 ladders up to the flames wraps around from front cover to spine. DW's bold red lettering, and black & white lettering to front cover and spine. DW's spine tips and corners are gently bumped and worn. Back cover has reviews on rubbed and lightly soiled white background with 3 approx 1/4" repaired tears to top and bottom edge otherwise DW is Near Fine.
