Square 12mo. (19 cm.) [7]8-220p. Rubricated title page. Blue cloth with gilt letters and decoration on the front cover. Minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, cloth clean, gilt bright, else very good to near fine/No jacket. Probable first edition. Derwent is a river in Cumberland, NW England, which flows north through Lakes Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite, then WSW to Solway Firth at Workington. The scene of this play is the Bowder Stone in the Valley of the Derwent and the view embraces the wooded slope rising to Gate Crag and Scawdel Fell. Alexander Lambie emigrated from Scotlandt to Vancouver, B.C., arriving in 1903. In the spring of 1905, he joined the Alaska Boundary Survey Party headed by George White-Fraser. "One More River: Being a Record of a Cheechacko's Summer in Alaska and Northern B.C." is based on his experiences as a member of the surveying team. He also published fiction for adults and children, including: "A Stranger in Our Midst" (1934), "When Polly Went Away" (1917) and "The Lady of Lodore" (1928). Bookseller Inventory # 005334
