About this Item

8vo. (23 cm.) viii, 219p. Illustrated with 14 full-page black and white captioned photos, including several of Elfego Baca. Brown cltoh with red letters on the front cove and the spine. Minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, red letters slightly dulled, all photos in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. Elfego Baca [1865-1945] was a lawman, lawyer, and politician who became a deputy sheriff in Socorro County, New Mexico. He is best known perhaps for the so-called Frisco Shootout in which Baca held out against a large number of cowboys who were trying to kill him for arresting and killing one of their own. He became a legendary lawman in New Mexico and his story was made into a television miniseries, "The Nine Lives of Elfego Baca" by Walt Disney Studios in 1958. Bookseller Inventory # 006799
