About this Item

Paris, printed, and London re-printed for J. Dodsley, Pall-Mall, mdccxci. Cover full leather, looks to have been reinforced on the spine by three pieces of canvas stained to match the cover. Must have been done quite awhile ago because the canvas, which is over one of the spine rings is almost unnoticeable. Does not look like an amateurish repair. Heavy edge wear, cormers bumped to boards, moderate cover scuffing but retains a nice shine. Internally, prev. owners bookplate (Mr. Gibbs) inside front cover, another old repair holding first two endpapers together, separation of p4 from p. 5. Gathering of p-5-12 is loose, no further conditions in this section. Starting on p. 75 is A DISCOURSE ON THE LOVE OF OUR COUNTRY, Delivered in Nov. 4, 1789, Meeting-House in the old Jewry, to the Society for "Commemorating the Revolution in Great Britain. With an Appendix. Next page reads, PREFACE AND ADDITIONS TO THE DISCOURSE ON THE lOVE OF OUR COUNTRY. BY DOCTOR PRICE. Written just below this is" The additions above mentined are in the appendix from pages 3 to SOMETHING to page SOMETHING. Apparently this is 4 edition. This continues for the next 51pps. Appendix 44 pps. Next section A LETTER TO THE RIGHT HON. EDMUND BURKE, In a Reply to his"Reflections on the Revloution in France, +c." By a member of the Revolution Society. London, 1790. Just under the above is written "Mayor (or Major) John Scott from the author." This section 55pps. Scattered foxing but clean and sound. Bookseller Inventory # 3004591
