16pp. First edition. Publishing date is approximate as none is listed. Original self-wraps, very good or better. Wardate letters written by a supposed Confederate spy taken prisoner outside Little Rock, Ark., while in possession of a message written in cipher. Frankly, the content of the letters, written from Benton, Ark., Monroe, La., and ‘Camp Near Grenada, Miss.’ seem to support the contention of the Federals. Dodd, hung as a spy in January 1864, became a regional martyr for Southern sympathizers in Arkansas. DORNBUSCH II, 2698. Not in NEVINS. Bookseller Inventory # 1013
