FIRST EDITION The autobiograhy of a woman missionary in China. Covers her arrival at Ningpo, beginning of her work, Pootoo, glance at Chinese religion, Chinese women, visit to Hang-Chow. Visit to Japan in 1860, stay at Kanagawa & Yokohama. A summers in Tung-Chow, Cholera, work among women, modes of preparing tea for market, and a trip up the Yang-tse river. An excellent primary narrative of what she saw, who she met. Most of the work they did was in Shantung, Eastern China. She worked with her celebrated and famous husband John L. Nevius.
