Book Description Harper and Brothers, New York, 1859. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Thus. An attractive copy, withdrawn from a museum library. The book was originally in the collection of one Roswell Carter Williams Jr., whose handsome bookplate is affixed inside the front cover. This edition was a bit deluxe, half-leather, with beautiful marbled endpapers and boards and the top edge gilded. The leather is a rich oxblood. There is a small amount of wear at the corners, and a small area of abrasion to the spine, possibly where a sticker was removed at some point, which would explain why the wear is confined to one area. There is a call number at the base of the spine and a card pocket at the rear, but no other library markings other than a library bookplate which overlaps the prior owner's bookplate. The textblock is pristine, with age-toning of the paper, but no signs of wear or use. The illustrations are crisp, and numerous.; Ex-library. Bookseller Inventory # 16730
