Blue cloth with red letters on the front cover and the spine and with a vignette in red and white on the front cover of a red brick chimney emitting a puff of smoke which encircles the title and author¿s name. Very minor wear to extremities, spine slightly faded, all illustrations present and in fine condition, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket. Born in Philadelphia in 1862, Mary Finley Leonard moved to Louisville, Kentucky when she was but a few months old. Educated in private schools, Leonard soon entered on a literary career which saw her write several books intended for a young audience, but which were also enjoyed by adults. THE LITTLE RED CHIMNEY is one of her later works and is fiction written for an adult audience. It tells the story of a street corner candy vendor who eventually wins the heart of a woman he met by chance when an accident happened near his candy wagon.
