'The practice of improvisation was common among Futurists, this is confirmed by Mario Bartoccini and Aldo Mantia's manifesto.which some consider to be the first avant-garde statement on improvisation." 'Luigi Russolo, Futurist'Bartoccini and Mantia served as improvisers at Futurist performances in late 1921, participating in founding Marinetti's Theatre of Surprise by holding what was were described as "discussions" among improvised pianos and between piano and violin.
