8 1/2" x 5 1/4", 314 pgs; B/W frontispiece + many other (60) B/W photos throughout book, world map w/pilot's route on endpapers; the author begins his account by describing his departure from MacDill Field, Tampa, FL on 3/27/42 headed for the war in the Pacific by way of India, but he is detoured from New Delhi to Cairo & then on to Alamein, he writes much of his association with his counterparts in the RAF, & the direction of Gen. Montgomery in his fight against Rommel. Eventually he does get to Iwo Jima & the presence of Gen. MacArthur. An unusual, fascinating, & close-up view of WWII from a U.S.air force officer who ends up following the war around the globe. Moderate spotting on side edge, mild spotting of blue cloth binding esp along edges, moderate wear of spine esp at top/bottom edges, DJ very heavily worn & only in one piece due to transarent tape, price clipped.
