Rural non farm activities in India growth led and distress diversification/R.R. Biradar. The recent observation of decline in the growth of labour force is due to (1) the withdrawal of a substantial part of those in the working age group from the labour force (2) an increase in the attendance at educational institutions and (3) withdrawal of some in the working age group from labour force due to non availability of work. The differences in age specific work participation rates will lead to a faster growth of labour force as compared to the working age population. The demographic changes over the coming decades are likely to compound the challenge of creating a good number of jobs. There are a number of labour intensive sectors that need immediate policy intervention and agriculture occupies a prominent position. The deceleration of the employment growth was mainly due to the mere stagnation of employment in agriculture. The raising labour productivity in services has resulted in relatively slow growth of jobs in the service sector. Industry needs to growth rapidly not only to boost the overall growth rate in economy but also to generate gainful employment for the existing unemployment. Who are u. Bookseller Inventory # 61825
