Synopsis: Square monochrome photographs of scenes from neighborhoods in Tokyo and nearby Kawasaki. Sandwiched between a shot of a nude in a shopfront display taken in 1978 and a young boy in Asakusa, Tokyo from 2006, are casual and unpretentious photographs of individual shopfronts, rows of shops and residential streets, ones that seem somewhat disorderly, mostly without people, but which show signs of intense, everyday use. The book also contains some essays of Kikai's observations of Tokyo inhabitants as observed walking the streets, or from commuter trains.
